Excerpt: Becoming by the Hand of God

In the chapter – Becoming Free, I talked about the concept of freedom and what it really means because many equate freedom with the absence of responsibility, restriction, or discipline. Yet biblical freedom is not release from formation, it is the fruit of it. Freedom is not doing whatever you want unrestrained.
Becoming free is God’s invitation to live unburdened on the inside while remaining faithful on the outside.
One of the clearest signs of bondage is the constant need to prove worth, value, or calling. Performance becomes identity and validation becomes oxygen and that leads to restlessness.
But freedom quiets the need for approval. Free people:

  • Do not rush to explain themselves,
  • Do not need constant affirmation,
  • Do not compete unnecessarily,
  • And do not panic when unseen or overlooked.

They know who they are.
Are you free?

Heart-to-Heart
If you are struggling with these things, do not feel condemned; you are on a journey. Just keep walking and learning. Formation is about growth and it cannot be detached from grace. Grow in wisdom. We all had these struggles at various points. The difference is, we recognized it and allowed the Holy Spirit’s shaping in season. In my book, I would come alongside to encourage and challenge you at the same time to come up to God’s expectation.

Shame is sham! Grace is Grand!

Hope this adds value to your life.
